Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and for providing support to ensure financial statements are presented in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and BASIC DUTIES

  • Manages all aspects of A/P processing.
  • Perform daily monitoring the interbank liability levels (liquidity).
  • Perform daily reconciliations processes: Federal Reserve, FHLB, Loan Settlement, GGL, CADENCE, Non-post, and other miscellaneous reconciliations.
  • Handle FHLB borrowing, funding, process wires, pledge collateral etc.
  • Book Journal Entries in Prologue and Jack Henry
  • Setup & Post Prepaid expenses in Prologue
  • Setup Fixed assets and book depreciation in Prologue
  • Responsible for some of the Call Report schedules
  • Communication with Internal/External auditors and outside vendors
  • Assist with miscellaneous other projects as needed (1099 MISC filling, budget, board report, weekly scorecard etc.)

  • Adheres specifically to all Bank policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and laws.
  • Demonstrate strong ethical values and accountability for actions taken.
  • Be knowledgeable of and consistently create an environment that represents the West Town Bank principles by being prepared, present and proactive.
  • Has responsibility for following regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection and determent of money laundering or other unlawful activities.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Experience and Skills:

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge Requirements:

Minimum Education/

Certification:

Bachelor degree in accounting or finance field. Additional banking courses through a banking school would be beneficial.

Required Knowledge:

Detailed accounting knowledge such as general ledger and balancing procedures is essential. An overall knowledge of accounting and bank operations is preferred. A general knowledge of overall processes and procedures in a financial institution.

Preferred Knowledge:

Knowledge of Bank computer operations is helpful.

Experience Requirements:

Required Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the finance area of a bank dealing with account reconciliations and other finance related functions preferred

Preferred Experience:

Experience with bank computer operations is helpful.

Skills Requirements:

Required Skills:

Must be detail-oriented and have keyboarding and calculator skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel and aptitude to learn new software. Problem-solving skills and the ability to organize tasks and set priorities. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated and ability to work independently. Strong listening skills. Ability to stay abreast of current accounting and audit pronouncements. Strong internal and external support skills and can-do attitude.

Preferred Skills:

Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and various financial-related software is preferred. Experience with Prologue / Cognos / JHA preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment Requirements:

Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, and bend. A valid driver’s license is required. Must have the ability to work the days and hours required to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
